Berni qualified in the UK as a Pharmacist in 1986. Her experience was in hospital and retail. She moved to Australia in 1999 and in 2005 converted her qualification to Australia. She continued retail and hospital work to retain currency.

Since 2020 Berni has gained her vaccination qualifications and is currently undergoing her Home Medication Review Accreditation as she looks to service and help regional rural and remote communities in the near future as she travels.

​

Bernis heart and passion for rural generalist for First Nation health has led her to spend time in a few remote regions of Australia where the gaps in healthcare are clear and the workers are few. Berni is keen to work together in multidisciplinary teams to make an effective difference.

​

Her recent endeavours include the development of regional single points of entry for clinical trials, and implementation of telehealth in conjunction with clinical trials for Queensland. With her clinical trials expertise and pharmacy work, Berni's passion is ensure accessibility for all patients for new treatments and to oversee clinical trials into regional and remote Australian communities. In 2021 she has recently completed a Graduate Certificate in Aboriginal Studies.
