About Berni
Welcome! I'm Berni Morris-Smith, originally from the UK, and I am a dedicated pharmacist with a Ph.D. in microbiology. I bring extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, on drug development and clinical trials, and I am passionate about promoting health for Australia and First Nations. and am an active member of a local University Ethics Committee,
My background spans, hospitals, and community work, and I also hold a Graduate Certificate in Aboriginal Studies.
I have a lively passion for life and aim to connect with others to inspire purpose and create opportunities. My goal is to ensure that everyone has equal access to all medicines, whether they are in regional, rural, or areas.
My Story
Throughout my career in clinical trials, I've traveled globally, collaborated with inspiring colleagues, and contributed to life-changing products, which has been incredibly rewarding. After moving to Australia, I embraced various roles across Europe, the USA, and Asia Pacific, eventually leading a startup and taking on a statewide research role in clinical trials through Telehealth.
My experiences span industry, academia, and government, and I remain actively engaged in pharmacy while consulting. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I proudly served on frontline vaccination teams in Queensland and a Graduate Certificate in Aboriginal Studies to deepen my understanding of First Nations people. journey has led me to connect with communities across Australia, enabling a desire to make a meaningful impact in healthcare. I am allso an Accredited Home Medication Review Pharmacist.
I am eager to combine my diverse experiences in pharmacy, Ethics committee membership, clinical trials, facilitating education and training, to help others, and I look forward to collaborating with you to make a difference.
